The Investment Board of Nepal has approved significant investments in several major hydropower projects.
At its 60th meeting, held at Singha Durbar on Thursday and chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the Board approved investments totaling Rs 70 billion for the 341-megawatt Budigandaki Hydropower Project, Rs 23.59 billion for the 106-megawatt Jagadulla Semi-Reservoir Hydropower Project, and Rs 47.54 billion for the 210-megawatt Chainpur Seti Project.
Additionally, the Board extended the term for the 327-megawatt Upper Marsyangdi project and Samrat Company Pvt. Ltd. The meeting also approved a capacity increase for the 750-megawatt West Seti Project, raising its output to 800 megawatts.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant agencies to create a favorable environment for investment. He also shared that the draft of the Board’s strategic and professional plan has been completed, with ongoing discussions with stakeholders.
