Kathmandu, September 9 : Construction works of the Nagdhunga– Sisnekhola tunnel way project are going on even amidst the lockdown put in place to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. It has been easy to continue to carry out such works as the required human and other logistics resources were arranged before the imposition of the lockdown on March 24.
However, the physical progress achieved so far by the project is not stisfactory. It currently stands at 4 percent, which is less than the set target by 4 percent. This is attributed to the problem of shortage of construction materials encountered by the project till sometime back like the shortage of construction materials.
Many of the local levels of Dhading district, where the project site is located, had blocked the transportation of such materials like sand and pebbles.
According to the official source, such bloackage has now been removed in coordination with the local levels concerned. It also adds that the land acquisition tasks too regarding the project are also been carried out .
For the last ten months, Hazma Aangdo Corporation, a Japanese firm, has undertaking the project by employing nearly 200 workers
The long and hassle-some traffic jams along Nagdhunga-Naubise road section are expected to ease to a great extent once the the Nagdhunga- Sisnekhola tunnel comes into operation.
