Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Lumbini Province has requested to establish a base for ‘narrow-body’ airlines at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini. NATTA concluded that the base in Bhairahawa would only be sustainable if narrow-body aircraft were operated for destinations in China, Buddhist third countries, and labor destination countries in the Gulf.
The conclusion was drawn from a workshop held in Butwal, as stated in a press release issued today. In the release, jointly signed by President Chandra Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Sita Basyal, the organization urged the government to come up with a more effective plan for the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa. Additionally, NATTA demanded that the government announce incentive packages and arrange for daily inter-provincial air connectivity flights for a certain period, with at least one aircraft from each domestic airline company.
The association also called for the introduction of convenient bus and hotel facilities for international air passengers and the adoption of traveler-friendly policies. According to the press release, a list of tourist programs to be organized throughout the year was finalized in the Planning Workshop and Fellowship Program. The workshop and fellowship program, held under the chief guestship of Madhav Nepal, a member of the Lumbini Province Tourism Council, also led to the formation of various thematic committees with the participation of 50 travel professionals.
