Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier, has been forced to halt all domestic flight services due to a shortage of aircraft.
The suspension follows the grounding of NAC’s only operational Twin Otter plane, leaving the airline with no available aircraft for domestic routes. Currently, NAC owns two Twin Otter planes, but one has been out of service for the past seven months.
NAC spokesperson Ramesh Poudel confirmed that domestic flights were suspended starting Sunday due to technical issues with the remaining aircraft. However, Poudel assured that the airline is working to resolve the issues and resume services soon.
“Necessary processes have been initiated to resolve the issues,” he stated, expressing confidence that flights would resume once the technical glitches are addressed.
Previously, NAC operated flights to airports in remote districts from its base in Kathmandu and regional hubs.
