Nepal imported vehicles valued at Rs 70.83 billion during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by the Department of Customs (DoC).
The country brought in a total of 221,000 units of automobiles over the review period. These included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, auto rickshaws, cars, tractors, passenger buses, commercial vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Among the total imports, 6,922 four-wheelers and passenger buses worth Rs 16.80 billion were imported. Meanwhile, 142,724 two-wheelers accounted for Rs 18.22 billion of the overall import value.
During the same period, the government generated Rs 56.63 billion in revenue from vehicle imports, highlighting the sector’s significant contribution to national revenue.
