Minister Khatiwada’s statement had a bearing with several economic measures taken by the incumbent government aimed at economic reforms and boosting the economic growth rate of the country.

The Minister was also speaking with a reference to the recent forecast made by the global renowned economic magazine, The Economist, which has listed Nepal in the 8th position among the fastest 10 growers including Bangladesh, India from South Asia for 2020. Inaugurating the administrative building of Mechi Multiple Campus here on Friday, Minister Khatiwada said Nepal and Bangladesh had a higher economic growth rate in South Asia than other South Asian countries.

Assuring that the positive results of the economic measures taken by the incumbent government would begin to be seen slowly, he shared that budget was allocated to give completion to the development projects initiated by the previous government. According to him, the government has taken up a policy to invest in technical, scientific and vocational education to produce internationally competitive human resources. He assured that the Mechi Multiple Campus will not suffer financial constraints for building any physical infrastructures. The Tribhuvan University (TU) Grants Commission and Nepal government will be providing assistance for the development of physical infrastructures for the Mechi Multiple Campus. Minister Khatiwada and former Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula also jointly laid a foundation stone for the girls’ hostel for the campus.

Also, speaking at the program, former Deputy Prime Minister Situala said that all political parties had lent their support for the development and expansion of the Mechi Multiple Campus. He also posed a question to Minister Khatiwada that why the incumbent government had not extended its support for the Late Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial Building initiated by the previous government at Chandragadhi, Jhapa. On the occasion, TU Registrar Dilliram Uprety had laid a foundation stone for the building of the Humanities Faculty of the Campus and urged the campus administration to launch Bachelor’s in Information Technology (BIT) in the college from next academic year.
