Nepal’s exports have seen a significant boost, rising by 65% in the first nine months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25.
According to data from the Department of Customs, the country earned Rs 188 billion from exports between mid-July and mid-April, compared to Rs 113 billion during the same period last fiscal year.
Imports have also grown during this period. The total import value reached Rs 1,309 billion by mid-April, an increase of Rs 150 billion from Rs 1,167 billion recorded in the corresponding period last year.
Overall, Nepal’s foreign trade has increased by 16.89%, with the total trade volume reaching Rs 1,497 billion—up from Rs 1,281 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Petroleum-based products remain Nepal’s top imports, totaling Rs 74.28 billion during the review period. On the export side, notable items included tea and coffee-related products (Rs 10.74 billion), wood products (Rs 7.16 billion), iron and steel (Rs 10 billion), and carpets (Rs 9.3 billion).
