On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged by 43.22 points, closing at 2,742.88 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,699.66 points and rose to a day’s high of 2,748.29 points within the first two and a half hours of trading. However, it lost around six points in the remaining time before the close. The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased by 7.68 points. Daily turnover escalated to Rs 5.66 billion, up from Rs 3.06 billion on Tuesday.
Of the companies traded, 206 recorded gains, while 35 saw losses. All 13 groups in the market experienced gains, with life insurance and non-life insurance showing remarkable growth of 237.62 points and 180.03 points, respectively.
Nepal Finance Ltd had the highest turnover, with shares worth Rs 150.95 million traded. Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited saw the largest gain, rising 9.33% in market price, while Upper Syange Hydropower Limited was the top loser, dropping 10% in market value.
