Kathmandu, April 23 : With the addition of two new cases, the number of people testing positive for the coronavirus infection has reached 47 in the country. In a routine press conference of the Ministry of Health and Population, spokesperson Dr Bikas Devkota shared that two people were confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus today.
They are a 55-year-old woman from Udayapur and a 14-year-old adolescent boy from Janakpur. Likewise, number of people who have recovered from the COVID-19 has reached nine. Two persons residing at Suncity Apartment in Pepsicola, Kathmandu got discharged today itself after recovery.
The 58-year-old man and 81-year-old who were undergoing at Patan Hospital returned home after being discharged. So far 43,722 people have undergone the coronavirus tests through Real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) methods. PCR was performed on 9,199 and RDT on 34,523 people, according to the ministry. Number of people residing in quarantine facilities has reached 10,571 while 86 are being kept at isolation wards. Among them four are in Kathmandu and 82 outside Kathmandu. As many as 278 suspects are so far under red zone.
According to Dr Devkota, health condition of all corona infected patients undergoing treatment is normal. Meanwhile, chief of National Trauma Centre Dr Santosh Poudel said the hospital has continued emergency and OPD service by equipping the health workers with protective gear.
