According to Suresh Dahal, Information Officer at the Department of Industry, a total of 261 industries have been registered during this five-month period. The registered industries include small, medium, and large-scale enterprises.

The Department reported that 76 industries were registered in Shrawan, 72 in Bhadra, 52 in Ashoj, 56 in Kartik, and 5 on the first day of Mangsir. Among these, one industry was also deregistered.

Similarly, in the previous fiscal year 2081/082, a total of 700 industries were registered, with 11 industries deregistered, according to departmental records. In the fiscal year 2080/081, 9,719 industries were registered, whereas in 2079/080, only 322 industries were registered.

Information Officer Dahal explained that industries are registered by categorizing them into small, medium, and large. He added that the department registers both small and large industries with foreign investment, while only large industries with domestic investment are registered.

According to him, under the Industrial Enterprise Act, 2076, small industries are those with fixed capital up to NPR 15 million, excluding micro-enterprises and cottage industries; medium industries have fixed capital between NPR 15 million and NPR 50 million; and large industries are those with fixed capital exceeding NPR 50 million.

He noted that the industrial environment in the country is improving, policy and administrative reforms are being implemented, investor services and facilitation are being enhanced, and obstacles to investment are being addressed, all contributing to the increasing trend in industrial establishment.
