Kathmandu, August 3 : The Pokhara Chamber of Commerce has urged the Gandaki State government to facilitate extension of the stay of foreign tourists currently in Nepal. The Chamber made this appeal after Department of Immigration has directed the foreign tourists, whose VISA expired, to leave the country. The DOI has stated that the foreigners should have left the country 15 days starting August 17 when international flights resume.
The government has made preparations to resume international flights on August 17. Pokhara chamber of Commerce chair Kisan Sunar said that the foreigners will not be able to leave Nepal within 15 days after August 17 as they were not ready to return home due to COVID-19 threat.
He shared that over 1,500 foreign tourists are stranded in Nepal and of them 442 are in Pokhara alone due to lockdown. Foreign tourists were found not ready to return home due to COVID-19 outbreak and risk in different transit before reaching home towns. RSS
