Rasuwa, June 26 : Officials of Nepal and China have agreed to resume the daily operations of the Rasuwagadhi transit point, which were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a meeting held here on Wednesday (June 25), they agreed to do so within this week after taking some precautionary measures like conducting health tests, managing special security at the border and setting up quarantine facilities.
As per the agreement, Chinese vehicles will be allowed to transport goods up to the Miteri Bridge after the reopening of the transit point, said Chief District Officer of Rasuwa district Hari Prasad Panta.
Similarly, the Nepali side is required to provide the details of 15 drivers and 15 workers to the Chinese side. Soon after this, the Chinese side will send goods stuck in Paangsing. The concerned drivers as well as workers shall be checked on a regular basis.
In order tackle the risks of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Rasuwagadhi transit point was sealed back in January this year.
They very transit point registers more than 250 vehicles carrying goods for import and export on a daily basis.
