As the weather is favorable for climbing in spring, a considerable number of climbers come to Nepal from all over the world contributing to mountain revenue. People climbing various mountains, including Mount Everest, also contribute to government revenue.
The citizens of 80 countries, including Nepal, have taken permission from the Department of Tourism to climb mountains including Mount Everest this year. Here, the citizens of 65 countries, including Nepal, have received permission to climb Mount Everest alone. According to the mountain climbing branch of the Department, 746 million rupees has been collected in revenue so far from mountain climbing permits.
Here, revenue worth 655 million rupees has been collected from Mt Everest alone. After Mt Everest, the highest amount has been collected from Mt Lhotse, i.e 28.3 million rupees and Mt Makalu i.e 13.6 million rupees. Bigyan Koirala, section officer of the mountaineering division, said that this season the highest number of climbers received permission in the history of climbing Mount Everest and with this revenue collection has also increased.
467 climbers took permission to climb Mount Everest
According to the details of the tourism department, 467 climbers from 44 climbing groups have taken permission to climb Mt Everest. Section Officer Koirala said that the climbers who have taken permission to climb Mount Everest have almost arrived and are in the process of taking some permission till Wednesday. The climbers who have obtained the permission are now waiting to reach the camp and the second camp of Everest.
Skilled workers (Icefall Doctors) have made a way for climbing Everest up to the South Col (fourth camp) of Everest. After hanging the rope on the peak of Everest, the climbing starts. Even though the road to the Chantho camp of Everest was opened on April 23, due to adverse weather conditions, it is difficult for the icefall doctors to reach the peak. They have been at the base camp for more than a week.
Imagine Nepal Trek and Expedition Company, which is responsible for building the road above the second camp of Everest, said that due to the strong wind in the area above 7,500 meters of Everest, climbing could not be continued.
The Everest Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) made the way to the second camp of Everest. The road to the South Col of Everest was opened on April 23. According to the Department, a total of 1,123 climbers, including 254 women and 869 men, from 126 mountain climbing groups including Mount Everest, have taken permission for spring climbing.
