Kathmandu, October 9 : Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang has said there is shortage of technical human resources required for new sectors of infrastructure development. Addressing the Second Global Knowledge Conference organized by the Non Resident Nepalis Association on Friday, Minister Nembang urged the Non Resident Nepalis (NRNs) to bring in knowledge, skill and technology learned abroad to Nepal. He informed that Nepal was, however, heading to prosperity with infrastructure developments as railway, tunnel and metro rail.
“As we don’t have able human resources for operating rail, we are compelled to bring from abroad,” the Minister admitted, adding that although the Nepal was currently a least developed country, it was for getting graduated to middle income country by investing in the infrastructure development. Moreover, the Minister said government was planning development of well managed, safe and modern cities.
There will be 27 new cities, 15 smart cities and five cities in mountainous region. The city development programme was implemented in 20 cities. Even the scheme of ‘one city one identity’ was forwarded. On the occasion, chief engineer at Palungtar Municipality Dipak Babu Kandel pointed out the need of the conservation of traditional structures. Meanwhile, Minister Nembang held discussion with Department of Railway on the progress made so far on the construction of east-west electronic railway. He inspected the department office and garnered information about the progress made so far. RSS
