The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has stopped issuing visitor passes for the international terminal building.
According to TIA General Manager Hansraj Pandey, the decision was made following complaints that visitor passes were being issued through personal connections and that those without access to such channels were unable to obtain them.
He stated, “As per the decision of the TIA Facilities Committee, the distribution of visitor passes through the International Terminal Duty Office, which had been ongoing until August 11 (Shrawan 27), has now been discontinued.”
In a public notice issued on Monday, the airport office announced that an assistance desk has been set up for elderly passengers, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and minors who require personal assistance when traveling through the international terminal.
For passengers requiring special support, such as wheelchairs, facilitation will be provided in coordination with the respective airline companies. The office also reminded travelers to follow the baggage count and weight limits specified on their airline tickets.
The notice further stated, “Effective from Tuesday, as per the decision of the TIA Facilities Committee, the distribution of visitor passes through the international terminal building has been discontinued. All concerned are requested to take note of this matter.”
