Both the domestic and international flights would not be operated till May 15 in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting also reviewed the activities conducted so far to contain the virus and concluded that the lockdown was on the right track. The efforts made so far for controlling and preventing the COVID-19 were giving positive results.

However, the decision on whether the lockdown continues would be taken by the government, according to secretary of the committee, Narayan Prasad Bidari.

He said, ”Lockdown is being successful in lessening and controlling the risks of coronavirus. We could minimize the risk largely by the lockdown. It is still under the control despite the detection of some cases lately.”

The committee reached the conclusion that a decision in regard with the lockdown should be taken only after analyzing the state of infection rate in the neighbouring countries and the international situation. The meeting reviewed the effectiveness of the lockdown from multiple angles and thanked all those medical workers, security forces, stakeholders concerned and media who contributed in the smooth implementation of lockdown.

According to secretary Bidari, upcoming Cabinet will take a concrete decision on lockdown. He added that the meeting held discussions from different angles and approaches about the effectiveness of lockdown and complications caused by it. “How long it goes depends on the situation and decision of the Cabinet,” he informed. The modality of tracing, testing, and treating would be made further effective. Bidari shared that people’s access to medicines would be ensured as per the need. RSS
