Nepal’s leading private airline, Buddha Air, will resume direct flights between Kathmandu and Kolkata starting October 19, after a gap of several years.
Introductory fares begin at Rs 13,353 for a one-way ticket, with the highest fare capped at Rs 31,200, according to travel agencies. Bookings are now open online and through sales offices.
To complement the relaunch, Buddha Holidays, the airline’s sister company, has introduced special packages. Outbound offers cover Jagannath Puri, Sundarbans, and Gangasagar near Kolkata, while inbound packages aim to attract Indian tourists to Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini.
Buddha Air had first launched the Kolkata route in 2019, but suspended it shortly afterward due to low demand. The airline says the relaunch is backed by a renewed strategy centered on religious tourism and rising market demand.
Currently, the carrier operates three weekly flights on the Kathmandu–Varanasi route and has announced plans to expand its connectivity to more Indian cities in the near future.
