Chairman of the Industry Management Committee, Narendra Bhandari, has announced that the Hetauda Cement Industry will restart cement production on December 28, with equipment repairs expected to be finalized by December 25.
“The repair work on the industry’s equipment, including the clinker machine, is nearing completion,” said Chairman Bhandari. He acknowledged that the repairs were initially scheduled for completion by Tihar, with production resuming shortly thereafter, but unforeseen delays extended the timeline.
Cement production at the industry has been halted since October 1 due to the need for equipment repairs. Specialized workers from India were brought in to address the technical issues, contributing to the delay in resuming operations.
The industry currently has approximately 400 metric tons of coal in stock, sufficient to restart production, and has begun procuring additional coal to maintain continuous operations.
Earlier this year, despite financial challenges, the industry resumed production in September and successfully produced 65,000 bags of cement. Established in Lamsure, Hetauda, in 1976, the Hetauda Cement Industry began production in 1986 and continues to play a significant role in Nepal’s cement supply.
