A state assembly team headed by committee president Raju Nepali monitored the cooperative organizations and individual firms of Surkhet that received grants from the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives in the last fiscal year. The committee had monitored Hatemalo Agriculture and Cooperative Organization at Barahataal rural municipality-8, Jhulkepani, KP Commercial Service Pvt Ltd at Birendranagar-11, Hamro Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative Organization Limited at Panchapuri municipality-6, Bhawar. It may be noted that the ministry had provided a grant of Rs 4 million to Hatemalo Cooperative for the manufacturing of organic fertilizer and organic pesticides for the fiscal year 2075/76 BS. The cooperative was found not developing any structures for the manufacturing of fertilizers. The committee took the monitoring measure acting on complaints of other members of the cooperative about the possible misappropriation of the state grants.

Hamro Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative based in Panchapuri municipality-6, Bhawar had also received a grant of Rs 6.69 million for the setup of a high-tech nursery. It was found in the course of the monitoring that only three tunnels were constructed. Likewise, KP Commercial Service Pvt Ltd also received grant Rs 2 million for cow-rearing. Proprietor Krishna Dhakal said he started commercial cow rearing since last mid-July and has been producing organic fertilizers and pesticides and animal feeds through biogas. Committee president Nepali said they would prepare a report after completing the monitoring of all grant recipient cooperatives. —RSS
