Kathmandu, July 14: The incidents of flood and landslide occurred in several parts of the country following the torrential rain have so far killed 28 people, leaving 11 injured while 16 have gone missing in the disasters. Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa from Nepal Police Headquarters said three deaths were reported each in Kathmandu, Khotang, Lalitpur, and Kavrepalanchowk.
Bhojpur, Makwanpur, Dhading, and Sindhuli reported two deaths each while one casualty each in Okhaldhunga, Parsa, Ramechhap, Ilam, Jhapa, Sunsari, Bara and Chitwan. Similarly, 64 people (42 in Kathmandu, 10 in Udaypyr, three in Lalitpur, four in Sindhuli, two in Siraha, one in each Bhaktapur, Sunsari, and Makwanpur) were rescued. The disasters caused a huge loss of physical property as well.
The missing are from Sindhuli (four), Bhojpur (three) and one each from Kathmandu, Panchthar, Jhapa, Udaypyr, Morang, Sunsari, Mahottari, Rautahat, and Dhading. Rescue and search efforts are underway at the affected areas and work to clear the blocked roadways are going on.
