The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a significant decline on Monday, falling by 59.02 points to close at 2,529.33 points. After gaining approximately 20 points during the pre-opening session, the market faced a downward trend as trading began, reaching a low of 2,519.41 points before recovering slightly in the final minutes.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased by 9.02 points. Daily turnover rose to Rs 5.66 billion, up from Rs 5.09 billion on Sunday.
Among the listed companies, only 14 reported gains, while 229 recorded losses. All 13 industry groups experienced declines, with non-life insurance leading the drop at 351.85 points. Eight groups suffered three-digit point losses.
Nepal Finance Ltd posted the highest turnover, with shares worth Rs 211.34 million traded. Four companies, including Goodwill Finance Limited, Samriddhi Finance Company Limited, NIC Asia Flexi CAP Fund, and Eastern Hydropower Limited, saw their market values plummet by 10%. In contrast, Himalayan Hydropower Limited gained 9.84%, marking the largest increase of the day.
