The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a notable rise on Monday, gaining 44.45 points to close at 2,508.86 points.
Opening at 2,464.40 points, the market remained stable for the first half-hour before climbing steadily to achieve an overall increase of 1.8 percent in the index.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, rose by 6.45 points. However, daily turnover fell to Rs 3.71 billion, down from Rs 4.05 billion on Sunday.
Out of the listed companies, 210 saw gains while 33 recorded losses. The only sector to experience a decline was mutual funds, which dropped by 0.12 points. Among the gainers, the manufacturing and processing sector led with a substantial increase of 258.67 points, while indices for life insurance, hotels and tourism, and finance surged by three-digit points.
CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited topped the turnover charts with shares worth Rs 176.96 million, marking it as the biggest gainer with a 10 percent increase in market value. In contrast, Prabhu Select Fund saw a significant drop of 9.36 percent in its market price, making it the biggest loser of the day.
