The 25 MW Seti Hydroelectric Project has officially started its commercial production, marking the completion of its commissioning process, which included testing the power plant and its interconnection systems. The electricity generated by the project is now being transmitted to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s (NEA) system. The transmission is linked to the NEA substation in Lahachok, Machapuchhre Municipality-4.
The project, which involved an investment of over Rs 5 billion, utilizes a run-of-the-river design. A dam has been constructed on the Seti River at Bharabhari, Sardikhola, and water is channeled through a 6,400-meter-long underground pipeline. This water is then dropped from a height of 187 meters into the powerhouse at Chintebagar, where electricity is generated.
