‘Nepal’s participation in World Economic Forum opportunity to share achievements’

Kathmandu, January 19 : Nepal’s participation in the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting at Davos of Switzerland is expected to be a beneficial platform.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading the Nepali delegation to attend the global event being held from January 22 to 25. It is the first time Nepal’s Prime Minister is attending the Forum meeting being held since 1974. Attaching such importance with high level participation is expected to give a message that Nepal is also watched by the world economy.
PM Oli is scheduled to address two sessions of the meeting.
During the Friday meeting of the House of Representatives, PM Oli, on his imminent visit to Switzerland for the participation in the Forum meeting, said, “Entire world’s attention is drawn to Nepal’s success. Now, Nepal has become a country worth remembering.”
He is leaving Kathmandu for Switzerland coming Sunday to address the meeting. The PM is also scheduled to hold meetings with various Heads of the States and of governments on the sideline of the meeting during his weeklong stay.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gyawali, shared with the National News Agency (RSS) that the WEF meeting would be an effective platform to share our development experiences and expectation and learn from others with the participation in various debates around economic issues.
As the Foreign Minister argued, Nepal’s participation in the Davos meeting would be helpful to make the coming March’s investment conference in Nepal and bring in more investments. This meeting would help attract world’s reputed companies for the investment in Nepal, he said, adding that they would be persuaded why the investment in Nepal would be safe and secure.
Similarly, Joint Secretary at the Foreign Ministry looking after the Europe and the US Divisions, Ghanashyam Bhandari, viewed that Nepal would be able to exchange the views and experiences with the representatives of world leaders and financial institutions.
The Davos meeting is being attended by the heads of State, of governments, their representatives, and the chiefs of 1000 reputed institutions from across the world.
Representatives of international organizations including the UN Secretary General, civil society leaders, acclaimed researchers attend the meeting, set priority area and prepare future outline of industrial, financial and regional issues. RSS
