Real estate transactions saw an improvement in the month of Poush (mid-December to mid-January) of the current fiscal year.
According to data from the Department of Land Management and Archive (DoLMA), there were 47,479 real estate transactions nationwide during Poush, reflecting a 9.45 percent increase compared to the previous month. In Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), there were 43,379 transactions recorded.
Transactions in Poush this year also increased by 4.86 percent compared to the same month last year, when 45,275 properties were bought and sold.
The rise in real estate transactions has also led to a significant increase in revenue. In Poush, the government collected Rs 4.63 billion in revenue, marking a Rs 1 billion rise from the previous month. This represents a 44 percent increase in revenue compared to last year. In Poush of the previous year, the government received Rs 3.20 billion from real estate transactions.
The government’s revenue from the real estate sector comes from several sources, including service tax, registration fees, and capital gains tax. Of these, registration fees and capital gains tax contribute the largest share of revenue.
